⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ More than a restaurant — it’s a feeling. Walking into Darbunah Restaurant felt like stepping straight into Iraq. The atmosphere, the food, the people — everything carries authenticity and soul. The food was outstanding: rich flavors, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with pride and tradition. This is the kind of food that reminds you of family gatherings and home kitchens. The service was excellent — respectful, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell the staff and owner truly care about the experience they create. And then the music… Moussa absolutely elevated the night. His performance brought energy, emotion, and nostalgia. The whole place came alive — it felt like a celebration, not just dinner. This location is a gem and deserves even more space and recognition. I truly wish them continued success and growth. Highly recommended ???????? Honestly this restaurant fed my soul. You know those meals that just bring you happiness? This meal was that. We had never had Iraqi food before coming here and it did not disappoint! Tiba, our server, was phenomenal & provided great recommendations on what to order. We ordered the fish & the eggplant fatteh with meat (great dishes w great flavor) I shall be returning!!
If you are in the Detroit/Dearborn area, this is an absolute MUST GO. This was genuinely one of the best meals of my life. Restaurant is cozy, not cramped but not big. The decor and atmosphere is very warm and friendly. Our waitress Layla was excellent, attentive and helped us with the menu as first timers to Iraqi food. Be warned, the wait time is a bit on the longer end, nothing crazy though. I had: The yogurt drink - Smoky, savoury, tangy, definitely a unique flavor may not be for everyone but I liked it Pita - Comes with everything, soft and pillowy on the outside a little crispier on the inside Hummus - The BEST hummus I've ever had. Smooth, creamy, a delicious fresh flavor, I usually love super garlicy hummus but this didn't need any whatsoever. Lamb Quzi - Fall off the bone tender, delicious sauce but still able to taste the high quality lamb underneath Okra Stew - Okra is as tender as can be, rich tangy flavor, lots of tomato, the okra kinda blended in to make it overall a thick smooth stew Biryani Rice - Well seasoned, paired very well with the okra stew Salad - delicious and refreshing Prices are very good because you get a ton of food. You could easily make 3-4 meals out of $20-$30 worth of food here. And free tea at the end!

One of the most incredible meals I’ve had in a long while. Phenomenal service, great vibe but, most importantly, unreal food. Get the grilled fish. And the lamb. Also, the eggplant appetizer (pictured) was excellent. Do not pass this place up.

Darbunah is truly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by beautiful Iraqi and Arab cultural décor — the ambiance is stunning both indoors and outdoors, with so much attention to detail. Our server, Dua (sorry if I misspelled!), was absolutely wonderful — so kind, friendly, and welcoming. She made our visit even more special with her warmth and excellent service. The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. If you want to experience real Iraqi food and culture in Michigan, this is the place to go. Everything about Darbunah — the people, the food, and the atmosphere — was perfect. Highly recommend!
This restaurant was wonderful! My mom and sister enjoyed a delicious Iraqi style brunch accompanied with hot Chai. The last time I had Geymar and Kahi was in Baghdad, we felt like we had a taste of the homeland! Layla was phenomenal and super sweet, very thoughtful and took great care of us the entire time! The ambiance was quaint and fashioned with a traditional charm. The art pieces showcased the feeling you get walking down Shari’ Almutanabi, a home for art and poetry, while the music was authentic, classical Iraqi music. A true fit for the flavors!
